Boots Smoothing face Polish

Exfoliation is essential if you want your skin to renew faster and appear light and with a youthful look. Giving a bit of help to boost the natural skin regeneration process is definitely one of the great steps of your cleansing routine. So, once or twice a week, depending on your skin type, do not miss this ritual !

Product description: Face Smoothing Polish
Certified: no
For: all skin types
Texture: cream
Price: £5.99

Browsing throught all the exfoliators the natural market offers, I wanted to try a "good money" value product and bought the organic facial scrub from Boots. Yes, they do propose a range of organic products (for face and body) but none of them are certified.

This creamy yet light scrub is composed of only a few ingredients including almond oil, cranberry and cupuacu powder and ensures to give a smooth but grainy mixture. The smell is not sweet at all, sligtly bitter and raw, but I guess this is due to the fact that essential oils are not part of the composition. Sometimes, if you have a really sensitive skin, essential oils can be less well tolerated. In general, make sure you do a patch test to figure out whether your skin does not react to the product (really important with none rinse off creams or serums).

Applied on wet skin and massaged into the skin by doing circular movement, this polish really does its job...gently. The grains are not over abrasive at all, and after giving a good rinse, my skin was really smooth and clarified after using it. I tend to use face exfoliation twice a week and I felt this was the good rythm.

My only thumb down would be the smell of the product, nothing really special or uplifting...and I miss that aromatic sensation a bit.

This scrub is not expensive. If you are looking for a gentle and affordable face scrub, this is the one to go for. You can find it at

... a basic yet effective face exfoliator !

My overall rating: 7.5/10

Have you tried this one? what is your favorite face srub?

Composition: aqua, Olea europea (olive) oil, Prunus amygdalus dulcis (almond) oil, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) oil, Glycerin, Astrocaryum murumuru (murumuru) butter, Butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, Vaccinium macrocarpon (cranberry) seed powder, Cetearyl glucoside, Theobroma grandiflorum (cupuacu) seed powder, Cera alba (beewax), Glyceryl stearate, Cetyl alcohol, Alcohol denat, Xanthan gum, Sodium benzoate, Potassium sorbate, Citric acid.

Olive, almond, and jojoba oil are super beauty oils that protect the skin from dryness and irritation due to their rich contents in fatty acids and their affinity with human skin. Skin is maintained suppled and soft.

Glycerin is really one of the top moisturising factor for the skin. I assume this one has a vegetal origin.

Murumuru butter is extracted from fruits seeds. Really rich in lauric acid, this butter is ideal to treat dry skin and leaves no greasy feeling. Also excellent to use on hair.

Shea butter acts as a repairing agent and smoothes any rough skin.

Cranberry and cupuacu powder have a vegetal origin and enhance the exfoliation of the skin by removing debris in a delicate manner.

Cetearyl glucoside, cetyl alcohol, and xantan gum are gentle emulsifiers which facilitate the mixture between aqueous and oily components.

The preservatives used for this scrub is a mixture of sodium benzoate, alcohol denat, acid citric and potassium sorbate.

Chocolate: Love etc...

When the weather is cold, the wind blowing in the face and the mood not at the top, we need to find little treats that have the ultimate power to put back a smile on our face. One of those little pleasure is called "chocolate".

Valentine's day around the corner, chocolate is the ultimate indulgence to share, enjoy, degust, appreciate... ie LOVE.

So, what are the health and beauty benefits of this super star?

Listed as one of the most favorite food in the world, dark chocolate (70%-80% made from cocoa beans) remains an excellent source of vitamins B, phosphore, iron and magnesium which make it very stimulative for mind and body. Chocolate also contains anti-oxidants such as flavonol and proanthocyanines that improve blood circulation and may play a role in blood pressure. In addition, chocolate is rich in theobromin, a molecule that triggers a "bien-etre" sensation in the organism. Sounds like a lot of positive attributes, isnt it?

Dark chocolate is made up with more cacao and less sugar (and fat) than milk or white chocolate, making it the top choice for a sweet indulgence.

Whether chocolate is the best Valentine gift for your loved one or wether you just love enjoying a square or two now and then, make sure you choose high quality one to avoid poor dosage in cacao and top percentage in fat and sugar. My favorite ones are from Green and Black, Divine, Conscious, ombar, Bonneterre and Saveur et Nature.

Are you a chocolate lover? which type do you like best? let me know, I am curious !
