Part 1- All about goumandise- Beauty brands from France

One of the latest trends in the beauty industry are skincare products that look almost edible. These creams and lotions offer a high content of refreshing fruit extracts and fruit waters. They are often able to provide strong anti-oxidant and regenerative properties to the products.
Apricots, bananas, blueberries, cherries, kiwis, grapes..: these are only some of the numerous organic fruits used. Fruits have of course excellent health benefits and research have shown that the precious fruity actives are also really effective in promoting radiant and balanced skin!

The following french skincare brands have used the super beauty benefits of fruits and developed some "appetizing" products...But be aware: those are not to be eaten but to be used in your beauty regime!

So have a little look at the following brands...

Kadalys
The key ingredients of this skincare beauty line are the green and yellow banana extracts, exceptionnaly rich in mucilages, antioxidants and minerals. Targeting womens in their 20's and 40's. Click on the link if you want to know more: http://www.kadalys.com.
And important to mention, Kadalys just won two awards at "the Victoires de la Beaute"! Well done!

Pulpe de vie
If you follow me on Twitter, you may remember that I have already talked about this lovely brand. Manufactured in the Provence, Pulpe de Vie face and body products contain organic fruits (such as organic water of tomatoe, grapefruit, blackcurrent or fig waters) from local producers. For info, I have previously reviewed the facial cleansing "sweet little face" (here).
Check out http://www.pulpedevie.fr

Nuxe Bio Beaute
This sub-brand of Nuxe has been created following the high demand in organic products in France. All products appear so "gourmand" and some contains for example cherries, apricots, raspberries or plums extracts. I will do write a review of the face foaming cleanser soon!
Have a look here: http://www.bio-beaute.fr/en/

What do you think? Have you ever tried some of those brands?

JooMo face wash

Not long ago, I was very excited to receive JooMo natural face wash. Although aimed at young skins, I thought this cleanser would also be suitable for my skin type (which is combination type).
JooMo is a new UK start-up beauty company founded by Nick Warren. The product was developped with the help of the Leeds Institute of Process Research and Developpement (iPRD) and Surrey University.
JooMo face wash is 100% natural face cleanser and is free from harsh preservatives, detergents (SLS/SLES), alcohol and synthetic perfumes.

Product description: face wash
For: young skin types
Certification: no
Texture: gel type
Presentation: tube
Price: £4.95 for 200 ml

My opinion

Face cleansing is one of my favorite skincare routine steps. It was with impatience and curiosity that I started each morning and evening using the JooMo face wash a little while ago.
Immediately, my initial impression was: what an incredible smell! It has a very "warm"and uplifting fragrance, which is nicely created with the blend of orange, cloves and cinnamon essential oils (also excellent to bring anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties to the cleanser). So... close your eyes and you will think the festive winter season is around the corner!
After massaging the orangey colour silky gel all over the skin with circular motions, impurities and dirt were wiped away thanks to a specifically balanced formula of saponins (and other components such as sea salt, sugar, essentail oils etc). Saponins are natural occuring detergents found in many plants. They act as soap without having the overdrying effect. Cleanser also contains honey which is a wonderful beauty ingredient as it associates moisturising and anti-bacterial properties.
Result: my skin was left comfortably cleansed and really smooth. I can really recommend this face wash to any skin type including sensitive ones.
The only thing that I liked less was that the gel was a bit too runny and it was sometimes diffcult to dose the correct amount needed.

As an overal, this cleanser delivered an excellent performance at an excellent price too. Funky design as well. Well... you may want to try it too!

If you want to have a look at the colorful website of Joo Mo, click here. I really appreciated the detailed  and informative page about the product and the company itself. Browse through and expect to learn a lot!

...one of my favorite face cleanser!

Overal grade: 9/10

Product composition: aqua, Saccharum officinarum extract, Maris sal (sea salt), saponins, honey, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) juice, Cyarnopsis tetragonoliba (guar) gum, Acacia senegal gum extract, Citrus auratium dulcis (orange) peel oil, Eugenia caryophyllus (clove) leaf oil, Cinnamomum zeylanicum (cinnamon) leaf oil, Cinnamomum cassia (chinese cinnamom) leaf oil.

Do you know JooMo? Have you tried the face wash already?

Natural Wisdom Age defiance facial firming moisturiser

A year ago, I got the chance to meet the lovely Maeve via Twitter. She is the founder of the UK organic skincare company Natural Wisdom Organic Skincare. Maeve is a homeopath by profession with a strong love for nature and beauty. She handmades her beauty products and aims at creating the most efficient and pure blends/potions for the face and body.
She kindly proposed me to review one of her products and I choose the Age Defiance facial firming moisturiser (I am in my mid-thirties, yes yes!).

Product name: Age defiance facial firming moisturiser
Certified: no
For: all skin types including mature, dry, sun damaged
Presentation: flacon
Texture: light yellow creamy emulsion
Price: £27.00 for 50 ml

My opinion

Age defiance
facial moisturising cream aims at regenerating dull looking skin and brings radiance to all skin types and specifically ageing ones.
The delicate cream (free from silicons, "cheap fillers", hash preservatives, mineral oil etc...) contains all organic goodness any skin can dream off.
First, Rosehip oil is highly rich in Vitamin A and super regenerative. In addition, Sea bucktorn oil provides the right nutrients to preserve youthful skin tone and even complexion. Enriched with super hydrating hyaluronic acid and brightening anti-oxidant Vitamin C, this cream acts as a real kick of skin regeneration processes. Maeve has choosen to incorporate organic flower water (such as Rose) as its base rather than simple water. I like it, because this brings something extra to the skin.
Only a tiny amount is needed, because this cream sinks into the skin really well. So it is a really economic choice! Its onctuosity is due to the presence of nutritive Shea butter. What I find really nice is that you can choose whether you want a scented or fragrant-free cream. I opted for the Rose floral essential oil blend as fragance and loved it. I was afraid it would be too strong, but the smell power degree was spot on!!
I applied Age Defiance occasionally in the morning and regularly at night as my "beauty sleep" cream. Skin became smooth, soft, and really well nourished. The complexion improved too. If you have dry, sensitive or mature skins, this cream will certainly do wonders.
I am really enthousiastic about this cream. I cannot wait to try the Rose and Pomegranate anti-oxidant toner! As Autumn has arrived, this cream is definitely a good buy!

Weleda Rose soap

I am quite a fan of foaming products (yes!) including soaps. Soaps can be equally pleasurable and caring as a body shower gel or creme. Perhaps more "basic", I do think that soaps can give you a nice "clean feeling" ...and I guess that is the sensation I am looking for here. I tend to use soap only for the body as face care does require a really gentle approach.

Produt description: Weleda rose soap
Certified: yes (Natrue)
For: all type of skins
Presentation: bar
Price: 9£ for 100g

My opinion

I am not a first time user of Weleda beauty range. I have previously reviewed the Sea Bucktorn hand cream (here). I always wanted to try their soaps as I heard some good things about them. Hesitating between the 3 existing (calendula, iris or rose), I went for the rose!
Enriched with organic rose extract and glycerin, the gentle foam cleanses aways impurities and leaves skin soft with a fresh feel. Rose extract is widely known as rejuvenating, hydrating and calming. I particularly enjoy the delicate smell of rose. Really light but still present.
For those who have a really dry or a super sensitive skin, I do find that the soap is not rich or nurturing enough to cocoon those skin types (a rich moisturising body lotion would be neccessary after showering).
At the end, I personally enjoy using Weleda Rose soap from now and then and hope to be able to try soon their Wild rose pampering body lotion.
