5 scientifically tested beauty ingredients for sensitive skins

If your skin is sensitive, you may want to keep your skincare regime quite simple and privilege beauty products that won't leave your skin even more prone to irritation but instead calm and heal.

Below are the top natural beauty ingredients to look for in a skincare product that can definitely help delicate/stressed out skins.

Colloidal oatmeal - This fine powder derived from oat grains made of starch, proteins, lipids, fibres and betaglucans is particularly effective in downregulating skin inflammatory reactions. Moisturising, anti-itchy, and even anti-oxidant, it relieves skin discomfort and dryness. A very interesting beauty ingredient that soothes and heals stressed skins.

Chamomille extract - Whether you have oily, dry or mature skins, Chamomille is an all-time skin soother that can help healing irritations/small wounds. Its amazing anti-inflammatory properties are partly due to two constituants called alpha-Bisabolol and chamazulene. A couple of studies even pointed out its skin brightening effects.

Aloe vera gel - One of my all time favorite ingredients because it gives an instant calming effect when applied. Its light and refreshing texture coupled with a stunning composition (mucilages, minerals, vitamins, enzymes) make it a super healing and anti-itchiness compound for all the skin types especially the very sensitive ones. Not forgetting its amazing hydrating properties thanks to the presence of sugars.

Calendula extract - Also called Marigold, Calendula can be considered as one of the best SOS plants. Its (flower) extract rich in flavonoids such as quercetin has been proved to have potent anti-oxidant in addition to strong anti-inflammatory properties. If your skin is irritated, feels itchy and is craving for a quick healing fix, then look for Calendula extract in product formulations.

Honey - The sweet flower nectar transformed by the bees is one powerful skin healer. Its effects on the skin has been reported in many scientific studies highlighting the strong moisturising and anti-bacterial properties. With its viscous texture, low pH and its composition rich in sugars, vitamins, aminoacids and minerals, honey moisturises, smoothes and repairs. One of my favorite DIY ingredients too.

Sensitive skins: treat your skin with love.

Body washes under 10 euros

Today, let's talk about body wash. I am always on the hunt for some nice and affordable ones that are sulfate-free, non drying for the skin and that cleanse well. Too much to ask? Well let's see.
I have picked the Organic Surge Awakening Body Wash and the Human+Kind Shampoo+Bodywash Apples & Herbs at Lovelula thanks to the blogger program. My thoughts are below!

Organic Surge Awakening Body Wash (£6.99 for 250ml)

This body wash has met all my expectations: uplifting, fresh, perfect to wake up in the morning and cleanses the skin vert nicely. The scent is really limy/citrussy but not too strong - perfect for my taste.
I love using the Super fresh body wash in the morning or just after a workout. It is like a big breeze of zesty aromas, ideal to energise the mind! It also displays a nice foam that gently cleanses the skin while leaving it soft and fresh. It contains some Aloe vera juice that softens and moisturises.
I was already a massive fan of the the Citrus Mint body wash (see here), so I can confidently recommend their range of body washes to anyone who wants to integrate a bit of green in their daily body routine at an afforable price!

Composition: aqua (water), Aloe Barbadensis leaf juice*, ammonium lauryl sulfate, cocamidopropylbetaine, coco-glucoside, sodium caporal/lauroyl lactylate, lauryl glucoside, sodium cocoyl glutamate, glycerin, polyglyceryl-4 caprate, sodium benzoate, Maris sal (sea salt). patassium sorbet, Citrus aurantium bergamia (Bergamot) peel oil, Litsea Cubeba fruit oil, benzoic acid, citric acid, Cymbopognon Flexuosus oil, sodium phytate, Achillea millefolium oil, Citrus lemon (lemon) peel oil, Citrus nobles (Mandarin Orange) peel oil, Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary), leaf oil, alcohol, citral limonene, linalool. *ingredient from organic farming. Naturally occuring in essential oils.

Human+kind Shampoo+Bodywash Apples & herbs (£7.50 for 250ml)

With their very nice packaging, Human + kind offers simple/affordable green beauty skincare/bodycare products. I have tried one of their moisturisers a couple of years ago (see here). Not long ago, their entire collection only included 5 or 6 products, but I am really glad to see that they have expanded their range in a very nice and complementary way.
Since my "me-time" is always very limited (hello all the mummies out there!), I thought trying a 2 in 1 (body& hair) product could be a wise pick.
The 2 in 1 shampoo+bodywash Apples & herbs is designed for sensitive skins so this is a good start. The scent is really soft and fresh, completely my cup of tea. The product foams easily when you massage it onto the skin, but not as well when you shampoo the hair. Although I find that my skin becomes nicely cleansed and soft, my hair needs a conditionner for some extra softening/caring.
So all in all, this product works well as body wash, but I am less keen to use it for my hair on a regular basis.

Composition: aqua (water), Aloe Barbadensis leaf juice*, lauryl glucoside, sodium cocoamphoacetate, glycerin, sodium chlorate, sodium cocoyl glutamate, sodium lauryl glucose carboxylate, citric acid, parfum (fragance), coco glucoside, glycol distearate, glycreyl oleate, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, Althea officinialis root extract, isopropyl alcohol, tocopherol, glyceryl stearate, lactic acid, benzoic acid, Calendula officinalis (Calendula) flower extract, hydrogenated palm glycerides citrate.

Have you tried them? what is your favorite everyday body wash?
