5 scientifically tested beauty ingredients for sensitive skins

If your skin is sensitive, you may want to keep your skincare regime quite simple and privilege beauty products that won't leave your skin even more prone to irritation but instead calm and heal.

Below are the top natural beauty ingredients to look for in a skincare product that can definitely help delicate/stressed out skins.

Colloidal oatmeal - This fine powder derived from oat grains made of starch, proteins, lipids, fibres and betaglucans is particularly effective in downregulating skin inflammatory reactions. Moisturising, anti-itchy, and even anti-oxidant, it relieves skin discomfort and dryness. A very interesting beauty ingredient that soothes and heals stressed skins.

Chamomille extract - Whether you have oily, dry or mature skins, Chamomille is an all-time skin soother that can help healing irritations/small wounds. Its amazing anti-inflammatory properties are partly due to two constituants called alpha-Bisabolol and chamazulene. A couple of studies even pointed out its skin brightening effects.

Aloe vera gel - One of my all time favorite ingredients because it gives an instant calming effect when applied. Its light and refreshing texture coupled with a stunning composition (mucilages, minerals, vitamins, enzymes) make it a super healing and anti-itchiness compound for all the skin types especially the very sensitive ones. Not forgetting its amazing hydrating properties thanks to the presence of sugars.

Calendula extract - Also called Marigold, Calendula can be considered as one of the best SOS plants. Its (flower) extract rich in flavonoids such as quercetin has been proved to have potent anti-oxidant in addition to strong anti-inflammatory properties. If your skin is irritated, feels itchy and is craving for a quick healing fix, then look for Calendula extract in product formulations.

Honey - The sweet flower nectar transformed by the bees is one powerful skin healer. Its effects on the skin has been reported in many scientific studies highlighting the strong moisturising and anti-bacterial properties. With its viscous texture, low pH and its composition rich in sugars, vitamins, aminoacids and minerals, honey moisturises, smoothes and repairs. One of my favorite DIY ingredients too.

Sensitive skins: treat your skin with love.
